I have just started going through the Knowing God Personally folder and was extremely excited when I read the “How to have a Quiet Time you won’t want to miss” section.
I’m excited about this because it’s the first plan that I’ve seen that incorporates multiple ways of learning (reading, writing, and sharing) with a basic structure on how to read the text and glean from it. All that explained on this one page sheet that doesn’t tell you where to start and finish or for how long to do it. In other words it’s open ended. Suggestions are given but for the most part you choose where you want to go, and you’ll glean from it.
I am about to start taking my wife through the packet so she can begin discipling the ladies in our church. I’m also scheduled to start working through this with a young man in our church who just became a follower of Christ a few months ago. I’m excited to work along side him with this and help him see that he is doing the same thing “THE PASTOR” is doing!

I can not tell you what a blessing the ‘One to One Discipleship’ book has been. I went through it in 1990 and have discipled many many women with that book since. Many of these women are walking strong in the Lord and are involved in ministry.
I now live up in the Costa Mesa area and have been doing Bible study in the jails for 14 years. I have always prayed and picked a book and taught that book chapter by chapter…verse by verse. I just finished Philippians and was praying about what to teach next. I am feeling led to do the ‘One to One Discipleship with the girls.
I have the same women for about a year to 2 years before they go off to prison. It is Federal so there is not a large turn over. New women come but then I have them for a long time. They are growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord but I feel this study would help them to know Jesus better and have a solid foundation in the word and their faith in Christ.
May the Lord continue to use you as you serve Him for His Glory…by His Grace.

I would like everyone to know that I have been using the Knowing God Personally and One to One Discipleship in a Presbyterian Sunday School Class for adults and also in a small group setting. It is not designed to be used this way so be aware that it has taken some adaptation on my part. With God leading it can be done. What has been amazing is, these are seasoned Christians who are drinking it up. Although it is designed to be shared with new Christians we forget that we are leaky vessels that need to be refilled by the Spirit and Knowledge of God. I’m not sure how many will take it to the next step and share it with someone else outside of class, but those in my class keep thanking me for sharing the material with them. There has been much reaffirmation going on. At least one person has shared with me that they in turn shared their full testimony of how they came to Jesus with a family member. When able due to work schedules, that family member is now attending church with them. I highly recommend this material for anyone, whether a new Christian or a mature Christian. God’s Word is always fresh and profitable to be studied. Mary Hough
